TECHNICAL SELECTION

Saint-Gobain Equflow® Single-Use Flowmeter overview

Saint-Gobain Equflow® measures flow through infrared turbine-rotor reflection and provides a high-resolution square-wave signal. Official materials describe use for flow/volume control, dosing, filling, bioreactors, and TFF/UF, and also indicate use with opaque liquids. Confirm the measurement principle, output signal, and actual process suitability together with the control system.

The single-use portion is primarily the PVDF tubing/flow path that contacts the medium. The official Equflow page emphasizes quick replacement of wetted parts and recalibration; in the Tubeholder datasheet, the housing containing the sensor electronics is reusable and only the wetted part is replaced. Because Clamp, Clip, and Tubeholder structures differ, verify by exact model which parts are single-use and which are retained.

For Tubeholder models, the official Saint-Gobain datasheet lists linear flow ranges for 0045 Low Flow, 0045, 0085, 0125, and 0250, together with viscosity, liquid temperature, maximum pressure at 20°C, K-factor, 5–24 Vdc supply, and 5–24 V SQW output for each model. These figures apply only to the models in that Tubeholder datasheet and its water/ideal-laboratory conditions; do not apply them directly to Clamp or Clip configurations.

Specification and selection

  1. First confirm the mounting format (Clamp, Clip, or Tubeholder) and exact part number; take the linear flow range from the official datasheet for that mounting format.
  2. For Tubeholder models, check the target model's viscosity, liquid temperature, and maximum pressure at 20°C against the official datasheet; obtain separate documentation for Clamp/Clip and do not reuse the Tubeholder 0.8–10 cP or pressure table.
  3. Confirm the replacement boundary between the single-use PVDF wetted flow path and the housing/sensor electronics; for Tubeholder, verify the reusable housing and recalibration process and do not assume all mounting formats are identical.
  4. The Tubeholder datasheet lists 5–24 Vdc supply, 5–24 V SQW output, and K-factors by model; for other mounting formats, confirm supply, signal, pulse conversion, cabling, and calibration procedures in the corresponding documentation.
  5. Confirm gamma dose, maximum sterilization temperature, USP Class VI, or other validation documents for the exact tubing; the official page states PVDF tubing stability up to 50 kGy gamma irradiation and sterilization up to 150°C, but the project still requires confirmation by configuration and process documentation.
