TECHNICAL SELECTION

TYGON® 3350 Ultra-Smooth Silicone Tubing overview

TYGON® 3350 uses platinum-cured silicone; current product materials list Shore A 50. Its ultra-smooth inner wall may be considered when reducing particle hold-up, micro-deposition, and cleaning residues. Material and inner-wall characteristics do not replace media compatibility, pressure/temperature limits, or specific flow-path validation.

The Saint-Gobain Bioprocess extractables-information portal lists TYGON® 3350 as a distinct formulation, and a public strategy document records the product family as having completed extractables-report status. Here, "Completed" is a report status, not product certification, and does not automatically establish suitability of a particular tubing lot, post-sterilization state, or complete assembly for a target process.

During selection, compile ID, OD, wall thickness, length, connections, media composition and concentration, temperature, pressure, contact time, and cleaning and sterilization methods in one confirmation record; then use the exact part number, lot, and assembly configuration to verify the applicability of extractables reports and validation documents.

Specification and selection

  1. Provide the exact ID, OD, wall thickness, length, connections, and minimum bend radius, together with target flow, pressure, temperature, and dimensional part number
  2. Separate ordinary fluid-transfer service from peristaltic-pump service: provide pump head, tube occlusion, speed, backpressure, continuous runtime, and cycle count, and arrange bench testing for flow, wear, and cleaning performance
  3. Provide media name, concentration, temperature, pressure, contact time, and particle or extractables-control requirements for compatibility and process-risk assessment
  4. Record the exact part number, lot, material or formulation, pretreatment or sterilization state, assembly configuration, and cleaning or sterilization parameters, and confirm that the report covers those conditions
  5. Request or verify the official extractables report, test strategy, validation documentation, and controlled revision; assess "report completed" separately from product certification, project release, or complete-assembly suitability
